90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Ariela Weinberg revealed why her ex-husband Leandro will be staying with her and Biniyam in season 3. Both Ariela and Ethiopian man Biniyam were married once before they crossed paths by chance in Addis Ababa while she was there on a trip. Within months, Ariela became pregnant with Biniyam and showcased her journey towards becoming a mother to baby Aviel in season 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off. However, Ariela and Biniyam’s relationship may soon turn sour with her first husband, who’s still friends with the New Jersey native, becoming a part of their storyline amid son Avi’s surgery.
While culture clashes were frequent in Ariela and Biniyam’s 90 Day Fiancé relationship, so were her trust issues about the MMA fighter who danced provocatively in a club with his ex-girlfriend for work. Before Ariela, Biniyam was married to another American lady named Bria whom he got married to in 2016. With Bria, Biniyam had a son named Simon, and the couple was described as inseparable. During Simon’s birth, Biniyam came to the United States on an emergency visa due to the baby’s birth defect. However, Biniyam and Bria returned to Ethiopia and stayed together until she left the 90 Day Fiancé star over him allegedly texting his ex.
With Ariela suspecting Biniyam of working with his ex throughout 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2, seeing her own former husband in the trailer for season 3 shocked fans. In an interview with Us Weekly, Ariela tried to defend Leandro by saying they’re “still great friends.” According to Ariela, they have “a great relationship” and he’s still involved in her life, apart from talking to her family and being involved in “holidays and stuff.” According to Ariela, she still hasn’t figured out how Biniyam feels about her ex coming to stay with them. “I want to be good friends with him,” is what Biniyam said during the interview since his wife has a “good relationship” with Leandro.
Former travel writer Ariela confessed that she’s managed to still stay friends with her ex-husband as she doesn’t “tend to blame the other person when things don’t work out.” Ari said that their marriage didn’t end terribly and that Leandro wanting to travel long-distance to meet was what made her invite him. “He always wanted to visit Africa and he hasn’t met my baby yet,” she explained. The 90 Day Fiancé star confessed that due to her lifestyle, which involves a lot of traveling, she doesn’t find it easy to keep friends. “If you get a friend who’s willing to come out to Ethiopia, you better keep that friend,” said Ariela with a grin.
When Ariela was 17, she went on a vacation to Argentina with her 90 Day Fiancé fan-favorite mother Janice. Ariela fell in love with the country and decided to stay and learn Spanish, and was there for two years when she met Leandro, with whom she returned to the United States and married. Leandro and Ariela were married for 10 years and separated for the last three. The 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star called herself “young and immature” for rushing into things. But the way she’s nurtured her friendship with Leandro despite the divorce surely shows how mature Ariela is now when it comes to maintaining successful relationships.
