An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has recreated the famous The Simpsons‘ steamed hams meme in a hilarious short video. The original clip, from the Simpsons‘ season seven episode “22 Short Films About Springfield” shows Principal Skinner trying to cook a meal for Superintendent Chalmers, something which has been recreated countless times across every corner of the internet. The video is one of many memes recreated in Animal Crossing, a game that offers different ways for players to get imaginative when it comes to design, style, and creation.
Recreating television series, movie scenes, and memes, has been a favorite pastime of Animal Crossing players since the game released in 2020. Along with a catalog of decorative items and design tools, the game allows users to create their own custom designs, or upload pre-existing photos and images to be used within the game. This has enabled imaginative players to reimagine other works within the Nintendo hit, including elements from games such as The Legend of Zelda, and even shows such as Netflix’s Squid Game in Animal Crossing.
Redditor elpinko‘s impressive Simpsons recreation highlights one of the best moments of the short, in which Seymour Skinner tries to convince Superintendent Chalmers that the kitchen isn’t on fire, and is actually the Aurora Borealis. The creator has turned the AC characters yellow for the skit, while also making use of the game’s available emotes, as well as items such as a hat designed to look like a burger, a Principal Skinner picture on the wall, and a dining area. A fire can be spotted in the background behind Skinner as the two characters converse using audio from the episode as well as subtitling in the typical Animal Crossing style. The hilarious snippet is one of a collection uploaded to the user’s YouTube channel, elpinko, which also includes other famous character bits from the likes of Friends, Tiger King, Rick and Morty, and more.

The Animal Crossing video offers another interpretation of the infamous meme, and demonstrates just how versatile the Nintendo game can be when it comes to bringing player creations to life. While editing magic has been used to make the meme video as realistic to the Simpsons scene as possible, the use of in-game features such as the custom-designed Simpsons-inspired outfits and artwork demonstrates that when it comes to Animal Crossing, the only limit is the imagination of the player.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans are currently preparing for the upcoming November 5 game update, which will add new features and decorative items alongside a host of quality-of-life improvements, new characters, and activities. With even more design and customization options coming to the game, including the ability to have Reese and Cyrus customize previously un-customizable items, Animal Crossing designs and fan content are expected to soon get even better than ever.
