Former Bachelor in Paradise star Nick Viall has reason to believe the show’s editors are gearing up for Joe Amabile to be the next Bachelor. Although there’s been no official announcement on who the season 26 leading man will be, Nick has a lot of experience in the franchise so he’d know what to look for. Nick began his journey on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, before making his way to Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season, where he was the runner-up for both women. He also had a stint in Paradise in 2016 that led him to be the season 21 Bachelor. If anyone would know what it looks like to go from BIP to your own season, it would be Nick.
Grocery Store Joe has some experience in the Bachelor franchise, as well. Although he was sent home night one on Becca Kufrin’s season, the rest of Bachelor Nation gave him a metaphorical rose and turned him into a fan favorite. He ended up on season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, where he met Kendall Long. The pair dated for a while before ending things in January 2020. Besides his time on reality dating shows, he also showed off his moves on Dancing With the Stars.
On an August 16 episode of the Viall Files podcast (via Us Weekly), Nick shared his thoughts that Joe is getting a Bachelor edit, meaning the show’s getting fans ready for him to be the next leading man. “Wells [Adams] was on here recapping, and he mentioned that he thought someone could get a Bachelor edit from Paradise. I’m almost certain that must be Grocery Store Joe from what we’re seeing in episode 1,” Nick said, referring to what Wells Adams (BIP bartender and guest host) told him on an August 2 episode. “I think there is one particular person that everyone is going to want to be the Bachelor, and whether or not they are even available to be the Bachelor at the end of it still remains to be seen,” Wells told Nick, saying that fans shouldn’t jump to conclusion about who the next Bachelor could be before watching Paradise.
Nick also praised Joe’s authenticity, commenting on his “honesty and earnestness” in the episode. “He’s probably one of the best people at owning his awkwardness and leaning into it and not pretending he’s not being awkward,” Nick said, adding that this trait “comes across [as] very charming.” While all of this seems like the show is setting Joe up to be the next Bachelor, he also could end up with someone before the season is over.
Whether or not Joe ends up being cast as the next Bachelor, fans will still get to follow his journey on this season of Paradise. Nick is definitely one of the people that has the most experience within the franchise, so if he thinks Joe is getting a Bachelor edit, he just might be onto something. Even if Joe doesn’t end up on season 26, fans of the show will always look at him as one of their favorites.
Bachelor in Paradise airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm EST on ABC.
