Mike Fleiss, creator and executive producer of The Bachelor, believe fans will be very happy with who they have chosen for the season 26 lead. For years, Mike has teased Bachelor fans with who they might be choosing as the next lead for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Even though he loves to tease the fans, the lead isn’t usually announced until after Bachelor in Paradise has stopped airing.
While Mike teases the fans, all they can do is speculate on who the possible lead could be. Since Katie Thurston’s season began, many viewers have called for Andrew Spencer to take on the role. Others believe Gregg Grippo may be a good fit, despite Katie accusing him of gaslighting her during their breakup. Another possible candidate fans would like to see is Tyler Cameron, who recently broke up with model/influencer Camila Kendra.
This week, the executive producer shared on Twitter a few hints about who will take on the lead role in 2022. “All I can tell you right now is that #BachelorNation will be very happy!” Mike said. “Well, maybe not everybody.” One day before he tweeted this, Mike revealed that he “might announce” the next Bachelor during the season 7 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise, which aired on August 16, according to Us Weekly. That day has come and gone, and the producer has yet to announce who will be Matt James’ successor. Shortly after the premiere aired, he wrote, “Waiting for final approval for the major announcement.” The discussion continued on Tuesday, with Mike, who was accused of domestic abuse, revealing that he plans to announce The Bachelor within the next few days.
After Mike’s slew of tweets teasing The Bachelor announcement, fans took to Twitter to leave replies regarding their guesses on who the lead might be. A majority of fans guessed Katie’s original frontrunner, Greg. He left the competition after his hometown date when Katie refused to return his “I love you.” At the After The Final Rose special, Katie accused Greg of not knowing what love is and faking his feelings to be on the show. Another former contestant some had in mind is current BIP contestant Joe Amabile. During a recent episode of The Viall Files podcast, Nick Viall admitted he believes Joe is getting “The Bachelor edit“ from producers. “Wells was on here recapping, and he mentioned…someone could get a Bachelor edit from Paradise,” he said on his podcast. “I’m almost certain that must be Grocery Store Joe from what we’re seeing in episode one.”
Mike has yet to confirm or deny these rumors. However, Reality Steve, the long-time franchise go-to spoiler guy, revealed that Greg will likely take on The Bachelor role next year. Steve has been wrong about spoilers in the past, so there is still a chance for other contenders.
