It’s time for fans to review this week’s biggest news stories from Big Brother 23, which is entering week 9 and will feature two back-to-back Double Evictions in the next two weeks. This has truly been one of the most exciting Big Brother seasons in recent history. Not only is this cast filled with charismatic characters and smart players, but the twists on BB23 have also been very interesting and thrilling.
When the season first started, it wasn’t entirely clear whether the Cookout alliance would work out. Azah Awasum, Derek Frazier, Hannah Chaddha, Kyland Young, Tiffany Mitchell, and Xavier Prather seemed very invested in making it work, but other large alliances in the house had the potential to also go far. Alas, it became clear as the weeks went by that alliances such as the Slaughterhouse and the Royal Flush were just created to distract the players away from the Cookout.
At this point, it is becoming increasingly clear that a Cookout member will definitely win Big Brother 23, which is very exciting to a lot of fans. Kyland and Xavier are extremely well-positioned in the competition, but they have large targets on their backs. Meanwhile, Tiffany and Hannah are now winning quite a few competitions, proving that Ky and X aren’t the only comp beasts left in the season. Last but not least, Azah and Derek F. still have a shot at making it farther in the game as well.
Tiffany won her first Head of Household competition last week. Sadly, her HOH reign was overthrown after Claire Rehfuss won the Coin of Destiny comp in the High Roller’s Room. Alas, this meant that Tiff would be eligible to compete on this week’s HOH. And as revealed in the live feeds, Tiffany won her second HOH competition after evicting Sarah Beth Steagall. These comp wins are amazing for Tiff to build up her BB23 resume and have a real shot at winning this season if she gets to the end. On the other hand, comp wins can lead to larger targets, so Tiffany needs to be careful from here on out.
The most hilarious Big Brother 23 news of the week had to do with Kyland’s old tweets coming to the surface once again. Over the years, Ky has tweeted out quite a few complaints to different companies for various reasons. But the complaints are just funny and harmless, so BB23 fans are having fun with Kyland’s tweets. In fact, social media fans started a new hashtag, #KyComplains, to bring together a thread of Kyland’s hilarious old tweets. His complaints range from asking why Lenny & Larry’s changed their cookie formula to include more carbs to throwing shade at Taylor Swift amid her ongoing feuds.
Despite the fact that Christian Birkenberger was evicted as the last pre-jury houseguest on Big Brother 23, he’s still making himself be heard outside the house. Over the last few weeks, Christian had been heavily campaigning for his showmance partner, Alyssa Lopez, to win more BB Bucks for the High Roller’s Room twist. He has also praised the Cookout alliance time and time again, showing that he definitely has a lot of respect for their games. This week, Christian called Alyssa a “savage” after watching her conversation with Xavier about Sarah Beth. In it, Alyssa told Xavier that none of them should give Sarah Beth a “sympathy vote,” explaining that they should all just vote with the house.
Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST/PST on CBS.
