Knowing how to disable the Crypt Security is the first real challenge of the Deep Stone Crypt raid in Destiny 2, a multi-step encounter that assigns different roles to members of the Fireteam. The Deep Stone Crypt is one of the largest and most popular activities in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, located on Europa. After navigating through a blizzard, the Fireteam will eventually enter the Deep Stone Crypt facility where this first challenge takes place. Every Fireteam member has to make it to the facility’s airlock before it can be entered.
The Crypt Security encounter is divided into three areas: a light side, a dark side, and an underground area. Additionally, Overload Champions are part of the encounter, so Guardians should be sure to equip a Bow or Sword and the appropriate Season of the Lost weapon mod. The encounter will not start until the Augmentation Terminal is interacted with. Before beginning the encounter, it’s best to go around the facility and understand the layout. Disabling the Crypt Security will require players to call out to one another from different rooms while fighting enemies.
The mechanics introduced during the Crypt Security encounter are going to be reoccurring throughout the entire Deep Stone Crypt in Destiny 2. There are one of three roles that players will have in this Destiny 2 raid: the Scanner, the Operator, and the enemy clearers. The Operator will be the only player with the ability to shoot out panels in the unground section. Additionally, this ability allows them to navigate from the light side to the dark side. The Scanner will be able to see the underground panels that have to be shot. To the Operator, all the panels are a translucent red, but the Scanner has the correct panels highlighted in yellow. The remaining Guardians will be in charge of making sure the Overload Champions are defeated, and that the Fallen Sentinel Servitors don’t disrupt the Augment Terminal.
Ahead of the encounter, the Fireteam should split into two teams, with one team on the light and one on the dark sides of the facility. One player needs to be the designated Operator at the start, but both teams will have a designated Scanner. Fireteams can begin the encounter with the Operator grabbing the buff from the Augmentation Terminal. They’ll head underground while the main floor Guardians continue to fight enemies until the Scanner buff drops from an enemy.
Once the Scanner Augment has been acquired, the Scanner should locate the two panels that the Operator needs to shoot. Afterward, they can use the Augmentation Terminal to send the buff to the other team so they can locate their two golden panels. Shooting the incorrect panels at any time will kill the Operator. If either player with the Augment dies, new Vandals will spawn that drop these buffs upon defeat. Grenade Launchers with Blinding Grenades, like the Ignition Code Override weapon, are really useful for blinding and quickly defeating enemies.
Once all four panels have been shot, Fireteams should have their Operator deposit their buff into the terminal underground for someone else to grab, and deposit the Scanner buff for the person underground to take. Using the Scanner Augment underground, teams should have that player locate the fuses that are lighting up. The Guardians on the main floor will have to destroy the lit-up fuses, damaging the Destiny 2 Deep Stone Crypt Security. Fireteams should repeat this process to reinitiate the damage phase.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
