Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke revealed co-star and friend Jason Momoa got her drunk at their recent reunion. The pair rose to fame portraying Dothraki leader Khal Drogo and dragon Queen Daenerys Targaryan on the smash-hit HBO show. Based on the series of epic fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones changed popular culture forever, becoming a phenomenon upon its release, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
The show ran eight seasons on HBO, with Clarke, who also starred in 2015’s Terminator Genisys, appearing in all eight, while Momoa left at the end of season 1 following the death of his character. Both characters were hugely popular among fans, and were often fondly referred to Khal and Khaleesi. Though the two have not worked together since, they maintain a close friendship, with Clarke speaking fondly of how he looked after her as a new actress on the set of Game of Thrones.
Their off-screen bond seems closer than ever, as Clarke revealed to EW that she had a recent mini reunion with Aquaman star Momoa at Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff’s 51st birthday party. The 34-year-old Brit revealed how Hawaii-born Momoa got her incredibly drunk at the party, and how they had an absolute blast catching up; read Clarke’s quote below:
“I mean, I’ve never tried so many different whiskeys in my entire life. There were a couple that were really nice, and there were a couple that were paint stripper, and I literally was like, ‘Yeah I’m gonna down you, get hair on your chest.’ It was funny. When Jay’s in town, you know it’s going down.”
Based on the Instagram posts both of them shared of their mini Game of Thrones reunion, the two are closer than ever, and looked incredibly happy to be reconnecting, with Momoa holding her in his arms, and another with the actress sitting on his knee. It’s unclear whether any of the other cast of Game of Thrones attended the party, but fans will no doubt have been delighted to see the mini-reunion take place.
It’s been two years since the show ended, with a polarizing final season, and there have been discussions surrounding planned Game of Thrones spinoff shows since, with projects including 10,000 Ships and House of the Dragon in development. Whether we can expect any of the Game of Thrones cast to appear in these spinoffs remains unclear at this stage; until then fans will have to make do with mini Game of Thrones reunions like this one.
