AMC unveils a new teaser trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 7 offering a look at the radiation-infected zombies created by season 6. Co-created by Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman, the series as both a spin-off and companion show to the network’s adaptation of Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics, with the first three seasons serving as a prequel while subsequent seasons have run alongside the main show. The latter seasons have seen both Lennie James’ Morgan Jones, Austin Amelio’s Dwight and Christine Evangelista’s Sherry cross over from the mothership series to the spin-off.
Fear the Walking Dead season 6 followed Morgan as he was left for dead by Pioneers leader Virginia while the remaining members of his group were separated by her and dispersed across her various settlements, with Morgan journeying to reunite them. The group would also come across the threat of John Glover’s Teddy Maddox, a Doomsday cult leader who is able to successfully launch ten nuclear warheads to various points in Texas as part of his plan to destroy what is left of the world while the divided group take shelter in various locations. A few months after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of the season 6 finale, the time is almost here for Fear the Walking Dead‘s season 7 return.
With just over a month remaining until the series’ return, AMC has shared the first teaser for Fear the Walking Dead season 7. The video offers the first glimpse at the nuclear wasteland created by the events of season 6 and the radiation-infected zombies that now roam the world. Check out the teaser below:
The decision to unleash a nuclear apocalypse on the world of Fear the Walking Dead certainly left many feels reeling and wondering what season 7 would hold for the characters and story. The latest teaser for the next chapter not only points towards more terrifying walkers roaming the world hungry for human flesh but also hints at the new alive threats Morgan and his group will have to face in the season. Previous teasers for season 7 have also shown further individual character moments as well, namely Keith Carradine’s John Dorie Sr. and Jenna Elfman’s June discovering the long-hidden murder bunker of Teddy, who shared a dark past with Dorie Sr.
The showrunners of Fear the Walking Dead have also teased an exciting evolution of the series going into season 7, describing it as a “reinvention” of what’s come before while still retaining the Western feeling of the past few seasons. Adding in a nuclear fallout on top of the zombie outbreak is sure to raise the stakes for the survivors going into the next season and it will be interesting to see how they fight to survive and who will reunite with whom. Luckily the wait is almost over as Fear the Walking Dead season 7 hits AMC on October 17 and AMC+ a week early.
