PlayStation Genshin Impact players will be able to access Horizon Zero Dawn‘s Aloy a whole month ahead of the content’s original planned release. Aloy will be joining Genshin Impact as a free addition to the game, and will be available for all players later this year as part of the newly-released Genshin Impact 2.0 overhaul.
Genshin Impact‘s 2.0 update has been a success with fans so far, introducing the first three areas of the new Inazuma region along with new quests, events, and characters to discover. The update went live in July, with additional content planned to release throughout the rest of the year. Genshin Impact‘s next big update is scheduled for September 1, and will add new characters to the roster: Raiden Shogun (Baal), Sara, and Kokomi. As expected, the three new Genshin Impact characters will be obtainable through the Wish system.
The new trio won’t be the only characters soon arriving in Genshin Impact, as Aloy will also be available for PlayStation players on the same day. Aloy’s abilities have been confirmed by the PlayStation Blog, where it’s revealed that her travels to Tevyat allowed her to acquire a Cryo Vision that has enhanced her skills with a bow and arrow. The character will have the Elemental Burst “Prophecies of Dawn,” which will see her throw a Cryo-filled Power Cell then detonated with an arrow for AoE Cryo damage. Aloy’s Talents and her Elemental Skill, “Frozen Wilds,” buff both herself and her teammates, while simultaneously debuffing opponents while dealing Cryo damage. Frozen Wilds works by throwing a Freeze Bomb that triggers an explosion, with the Bomb then scattering into Chillwater Bomblets that can either explode on contact immediately, or after a short delay. Aloy will receive one Coil stack after a Freeze Bomb or Chillwater Bomblet hits an enemy, while also decreasing the opponent’s attack. Coil stacks will increase Aloy’s attack damage, with four Coil stacks unlocking the Rushing Ice effect to turn Aloy’s Normal Attack Damage into Cryo damage. Aloy’s four-star bow, Predator, will also have unique abilities, and can only be obtained from PS4 and PS5, though it can be used across platforms thanks to the game’s cross-save function. The bow’s Strong Strike is only usable when playing on PlayStation consoles. Fans can get their first look at Aloy in action via the tweet below.
Those who reach Adventure Rank 20 or above during the Genshin Impact Version 2.1 and Version 2.2 updates will find ‘Savior From Another World’ Aloy and her four-star bow Predator through in-game mail from September 1, simply by logging into Genshin Impact on either PS4 or PS5. The character was originally planned to be available from October, with the Aloy event being split into two phases to give PlayStation gamers early access to the huntress. PS4 and PS5 gamers were scheduled to have first access to the character following the 2.2 update on October 13, with PC and mobile players getting their chance after the 2.3 update on November 24. It’s not clear if the date of Aloy’s PC and mobile appearance will also be moved forward.
Aloy’s inclusion in Genshin Impact is set to be one fans won’t want to miss, as it could be Aloy’s only new adventure in 2021. While Horizon Zero Dawn players were hoping to get their hands on the game’s sequel later this year, it seems likely that Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed, according to insider sources. The sequel’s release date may be unclear, but at least fans of Aloy will be able to experience a new story starring the huntress soon, thanks to the Genshin Impact collaboration.
