The 2.1 update for Genshin Impact is now live, and it’s added fishing to the game for the first time. To help introduce this new gaming mechanic, there will be the “Lunar Realm” event that will start on September 10 and run until September 20, 2021. This event should help players learn the basics of fishing in Genshin Impact while also earning fun rewards.
Because fishing is brand new to Genshin Impact, most players probably know little to nothing about it. There are some important elements to this mechanic that they should understand before getting started. First, there are only specific areas in bodies of water where fishing is enabled, so they’ll need to look for ripples in the water surrounded by different-looking fish. They will also need to craft certain bait for certain fish. The act of catching the fish has been described as similar to Stardew Valley. Players have to essentially control the tension of the rod.
The Lunar Realm Event in Genshin Impact is fairly simple. Players will be helping a fisherwoman named Kujirai Momiji, who is searching for the Lunar Leviathan, a legendary great fish. In order to participate in this event, players will need to be at least Adventure Rank 30, have completed the Archon Quest “Ritou Escape Plan” and the “Exploding Population” quest given by Mondstadt’s Nantuck, and have unlocked the Serenitea Pot System.
For the gameplay itself, players will participate in seven fishing missions and special fishing training, one of which will be unlocked each day for the first seven days. The special fishing training is exactly what it sounds like: this part of the event will help teach players about how to fish in Genshin Impact. There will be different locations they will need to go to, and they will also need to choose the correct fishing rod and bait depending on which species they are trying to catch. An interesting addition, players will only be able to catch a maximum of 50 fish from the training area per day to “protect the fish species of Teyvat.” Once players use up all the bait during the event, they can get more by simply talking to Kujirai Momiji.
There aren’t many details about the missions themselves, just yet, but the rewards have been revealed. While players complete the fishing missions and special training, they will receive special rewards. There will be an event-exclusive fishing rod called the “Moonstringer.” Genshin Impact fans will also earn Primogems, Mysterious Fish Furniture for the Serenitea Pot, Hero’s Wit, Sanctifying Unction (an Artifact upgrade material), Mystic Enchantment Ore, and Mora.
The Lunar Realm event is straightforward and simple, which will make it easy for all players to enjoy while also teaching them a new gaming mechanic. One last important thing to mention is that there will be event-exclusive fish, so if players want to collect all the fish in Genshin Impact for their Serenitea Pots, then they will want to make sure to participate in this event.
