Internet audiences were given a short sample of Stephen Amell’s singing abilities before they are on full display in an upcoming episode of Heels. Amell is arguably best known for his portrayal of Oliver Queen in the CW’s Arrow series. The battle for Starling City may be over, but Amell will continue a different type of combat in Heels.
The first episode of Heels debuted this week on Starz. The new program is a drama series that will revolve around professional wrestling. Amell will join Vikings and The Hunger Games actor Alexander Ludwig in the series. The duo has been paired up onscreen as brothers hoping to make a name for themselves in the wrestling entertainment industry. Amell’s character plays a villain in the ring in opposition to Ludwig’s fan-favorite personality. A recent interview has revealed that the new show will test a lot more than the actors’ physical capabilities.
Amell and Ludwig joined ET for a short interview where they discussed their work on the third episode of Heels. The episode, Cheap Heat, will be distinct because the actors are both expected to sing. Luckily, the internet was able to preview what to expect from Amell and his costar. Amell retweeted the spectacle for the rest of the world to enjoy. Look below to hear the spectacular voice that Amell will be bringing to the show.
170 episodes of Arrow… no singing. 3 episodes into Heels… https://t.co/4udR1UJWJH

As Amell points out in the caption, Heels brings a brand new set of challenges that the actor never encountered during his eight seasons on Arrow. The clip begins with an impressive acoustic performance by Ludwig, but the conversation quickly turns to how well Amell can carry a tune. Ludwig claims that his character in Heels is no singer but that Jack, played by Amell, is and prompts him to give a small display of his talent. Amell takes the impromptu request in stride and quickly delivers an interesting country-themed jingle.
The humorous ditty was unexpected and indicated that the actor might not want to pursue a career as a vocal performer. However, early reactions to Amell’s post indicate a much warmer reception than what the critics had when he starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Audiences that wish to explore his singing talent in further detail will be able to hear Amell belt out a few more chords when the third episode of Heels is released in just a few weeks.
