It’s almost fitting that, on a show about a traditional media company struggling to keep up with the changing times from print to digital, many of the main cast members do not have a social media presence. Indeed, this is the case for Succession, where Jeremy Strong, who plays Kendall Roy, Kieren Culkin, who plays Roman Roy, Hiam Abbass who plays Marcia Roy, Peter Friedman (Frank Vernon), Alan Ruck (Connor Roy), and Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) all have no official presence on Instagram, though many of them have fan accounts with lots of followers.
What’s more, none of the actors from the series, who deliver the best insults and put-downs Succession has become known for, have anything close to a million followers, or even half a million for that matter. Clearly, Instagram isn’t on their radar. Nonetheless, of the ones who have the most followers, they share some interesting details in their accounts.
7 J. Smith-Cameron (Gerri Killman) – 6,222 Followers
Often the voice of reason on of the show, Gerri holds her own as one of the few main characters who isn’t a member of the fictional Roy family. On Instagram, Smith-Cameron is quite active with almost 1,600 posts to date.
Along with promoting two main shows she has been on – Succession and Rectify – she posts a wide variety of images depicting everything from food to travel and beautiful scenic shots, with not many of herself. But scroll through and there are some great behind-the-scenes photos from the show.
6 Arian Moayed (Stewy Hosseini) – 7,205 Followers
With a recurring role on the series, Moayed has only posted 17 times to date, so it’s impressive that he has as many followers as he does. He posts a mix of everything from photos of himself and various events to pictures with members of the cast and crew from Succession.
Moayed highlights some of his main projects in his bio, including Waterwell, an organization he co-founded that aims to promote a “socially conscious and civic-minded approach to theater.” Indeed, like many others from the cast, Moayed is an accomplished theater actor.
5 Justine Lupe (Willa Ferreyra) – 10,400 Followers
Known for Succession as well as Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Mr. Mercedes, Lupe isn’t as active on Instagram as fans might think. In fact, she has only posted 72 times to date. She posts a lot of photos of herself posing in different locations along with group photos, and images from her work, such as her recent role in the sitcom Home Economics.
Lupe’s Instagram screams “living life to the fullest” with photos that include a mix of people who are presumably family and friends.
4 Brian Cox (Logan Roy) – 20,800 Followers
His performance as the family patriarch on Succession, who is both a genius and a tyrant, earned Cox an Emmy, so it’s no surprise he ranks among the top cast members when it comes to Instagram followers. Even so, Cox has only posted 40 times to date, mainly with images promoting his various roles.
In his bio, Cox links to a charity called Moms Against Poverty (MAP) that doesn’t appear to be active, which means he likely doesn’t pay much attention to the account. That said, his last post was fairly recent: simply an image of him in character as Logan Roy.
3 Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy) – 104,000 Followers
Siobhan “Shiv” Roy has emerged as one of the most popular characters, who has had some great outfits on Succession. So, it’s no surprise that the actor who plays her also has thousands of Instagram followers who want to learn about both her upcoming projects and if she has just as good a fashion sense in real life. Snook leaves her bio blank but has posted 395 times to date.
Along with some images from the series, and of the cast, Snook posts lots of selfies and professional photos, images of herself out and about, and lots of socially conscious messaging and imagery, notably about the damage of plastics in the ocean and atmosphere.
2 Nicholas Braun (Greg Hirsch) – 202,000 Followers
Known by fans of the show simply as “Cousin Greg,” the most likable character on Succession, actor Nicholas Braun enjoys the highest number of followers among the main cast. He is just shy of a quarter-million, but with a season 3 of Succession on the horizon, chances are these numbers will rise.
Braun has posted 408 times to date, with plenty of photos of him in various acting projects, along with selfies as well as posed photos. Look through and there are even images from the Emmys when the series won for Best Drama. He also promotes his cleverly worded merchandise: masks that say “mask on” in the front and “pants off” in the back. There’s even a video of him singing a hilarious tune about the phrase.
1 Adrien Brody (Josh Aaronson) – 642,000 Followers
He might sound like a confusing addition since the A-list movie actor with plenty of films making up his impressive resume, hasn’t yet appeared on the show. But Brody has been cast in a role for the upcoming third season, according to Variety. His character will be a billionaire and activist who plays a crucial role in the Roy family’s battle for control of Waystar Royco.
On his Instagram, Brody posts plenty of photos from his film and TV projects as well as personal images out and about. Littered throughout are great inspirational quotes, including the one he includes in his bio, “grow through the cracks, find the light, smile more.”
