After reports of domestic violence, Survivor contestant Parvati Shallow is trying to get a restraining order against John Fincher after the two started to go through the divorce process. The couple filed for divorce last week after a tumultuous relationship. Parvati decided to file for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.
Parvati and John first started dating back in 2014 and became engaged in January 2017. After a whirlwind romance, the two tied the knot after only seven months. Survivor fans will recall that John competed on Survivor: Samoa, which aired in 2009. His estranged wife competed on Survivor: Cook Islands and also on Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites, which she won in 2008. Pavarti has made a career out of appearing on Survivor and was back again on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, where she finished in second place, and, most recently, Survivor: Winners at War.
Fans learned that Florida native Parvati filed for divorce on August 24. The couple had only been married four years. In the court documents that Us Weekly obtained, Parvati asked the judge for a restraining order, which asks John not to “harass, attack, strike, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise)” or “contact, either directly or indirectly, her in any way.” The mother of one wants John to stay 100 yards away from her home, workplace and vehicle. The papers also show that she requested for her estranged husband to have supervised visitation with their 3-year-old- daughter, Ama.
John asked that the judge deny Parvati’s request and outlined issues of his own. In the documents, he noted an incident back on August 20 where he shared a disagreement over their daughter’s sleepover party. John revealed that both parents raised their voices during the argument. The CBS reality star revealed he was standing over her while she sat on the couch and proceeded to grab her phone from the couch. John alleged that his wife swung her arms, and her hands touched his arm and torso. He added, “I did not hit, kick, push or in any other way have any physical contact with Parvati at any time that night.“
Parvati claimed that John got in her face during the altercation and that she is now scared to be around him. The mother of one took to her Instagram as the news of their marriage broke to share that she was going through a hard time. The yoga teacher posted a photo of herself meditating with other women around her. The former Survivor star made it clear that her long-term goal is to heal herself and protect her child.
Survivor premieres September 22 at 8pm on CBS.
