Newcomer Tacha Akide recently explained why she called out Tori Deal during her exit from The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies. Tacha went out with a bang after losing her elimination challenge against Berna Canbeldek. Despite only making it through a few episodes in Season 37, Tacha was a standout among the cast of rookies and veterans. Her outspoken nature didn’t stop her from blasting one of the most notorious female vets on the show and warning Tori about her return.
Tacha was among the large group of Big Brother alums. Helming from Big Brother: Nigeria, Tacha came on The Challenge ready to represent her country with her fierce athletic ability. But like most rookies, she was outsmarted by one of the veterans in a shady move that has become the norm on the franchise. Viewers watched as Tori came to Tacha ahead of elimination and asked her who didn’t want to compete against her. After feeling like they had come to a mutual understanding, Tacha was blindsided when she was voted into elimination and forced to compete against another strong rookie. In the end, Tacha was sent home, and Berna lived to compete another day. But Tacha wasn’t going home without giving Tori a piece of her mind.
She recently appeared on the Watch With Us podcast and explained why she was so upset with Tori after being eliminated. “The conversation was, ‘Oh, I really like you, Tacha. Give me a name you don’t want to go against.’ And then she said the same thing to Jeremiah as well,” Tacha recalled. She explained her epic blowup after losing the Lair challenge to Berna. “What you saw was what the conversation was about” she explained. “I would say it was my emotions all coming at once because I’ve always thought Tori doesn’t like me and I kinda was almost coming to terms with that.”
Tacha was under the impression that by Tori coming and asking her who she didn’t want to compete against, it was Tori’s way of forming a friendship. Hence, why she was so upset when Tori went against her word. “Like, OK. If she doesn’t like me, that’s fine. Then she, for whatever reason, just really wanted to prove that, ‘Oh, I like you, Tacha’,” Tacha said. Tacha went on to further criticize Tori for not keeping it real. She pretended to be friendly with Tacha to find her vulnerability and strike. While it is a sneaky move, it’s become the norm on the show, particularly with the veterans.
Veterans on The Challenge have mastered how to play the game. It’s not always about being the strongest physically as it is to know how to play the game mentally. Having a strong alliance helps, and the veterans maintain their bonds season after season. “We actually haven’t talked or whatnot. I just don’t see the essence of having a conversation with Tori,” Tacha said. “I think Tori’s good. I’m good.” As it stands, Tacha has not spoken to Tori and has no intention to. She already warned her return to the show, so Tori better beware.
