Thanks to an early renewal, audiences can expect What We Do In The Shadows season 4; here’s everything we know about the next installment so far. WWDITS season 3 largely followed the misadventures of Nadja and Nandor as they adjusted to becoming the new Staten Island council leaders (with the help of the Vampire Council Guide, aka the floating woman). The status quo was shaken up by Colin Robinson’s unexpected death in the penultimate episode, however, setting the group on a new course going forward.
Nandor had many highs and lows in What We Do In The Shadows season 3; after learning he and Nadja would be co-leading the Vampiric Council, Nandor’s arc largely involved romantic pursuits. Unfortunately, the vampire was unsuccessful, feeling progressively more despondent with each episode. He tried to ask out Meg, his crush at the 24-hour gym, he re-entered his toxic on-again, off-again relationship with Gail, and he even joined a cult in which he was sexually involved with the leader, Jan.
What We Do In The Shadows season 4 will likely follow from the season 3 finale. Nandor wants to go find himself outside of Staten Island, asking Guillermo to accompany him on the worldwide journey (which, at the last minute, the familiar was unable to do). In another surprising twist, Nadja was offered a position on the Supreme Vampiric Council — but would have to move to London, England. Unbeknownst to her, however, Laszlo won’t be with her. Here’s everything we know about What We Do In The Shadows season 4.
WWDITS will be back for another season. FX renewed What We Do In The Shadows for season 4 back in August 2021, ahead of the season 3 premiere. This is promising news for the supernatural comedy series. Although it’s too soon for a release date, the early renewal means that a fall 2022 release is possible. So far, a few details are known: audiences can expect to learn more about Guillermo and his backstory — including his family — and according to EP Paul Simms, there will be more supernatural creatures in season 4 as well.
What We Do In The Shadows season 4 will likely have the main characters, Guillermo, Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor — although they may not all be in the same location in the premiere. Colin Robinson’s death (and subsequent rebirth) changed things up within the household, but by the time the series resumes, he may be back to his old self. The Worldwide Vampiric Council members will also likely return, promising more celebrity guest cameos. Finally, the returned Baron and the ancient Sire are now a part of the larger Staten Island vampire family — hence why they were included in the updated portrait — suggesting they two could return as recurring characters.
Although the story details for season 4 aren’t yet known, the What We Do In The Shadows season 3 finale sets up various plot threads. Nandor finally made a concrete promise to turn Guillermo into a vampire once they got to his ancestral lands — but because of Laszlo’s interference, that may not happen. Nadja will be in London, taking her new seat on the Supreme Vampiric Council, where she may need Guillermo to protect her. Lastly, Laszlo is embarking on a brand new journey: taking care of a now-infant Colin Robinson. One thing is certain: What We Do In The Shadows season 4 is sure to be interesting.
