The upcoming game, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, will showcase the latest adventure of the titular team of misfits. Players will control Star-Lord, the group’s leader, but the game will feature a number of other colorful characters as well, such as Mantis, Cosmo, and the other past and present members of the Guardians. Possibly, the character Adam Warlock could also make an appearance in the game.
Adam Warlock has been a part of many stories published by Marvel. In the comics, he was created by a group known as the Enclave as part of their attempt to create a perfect human being, though he eventually turned against them after disagreeing with their corrupt goals. However, Adam also has ties to the Guardians of the Galaxy and could be a part of Marvel’s game.
Although Adam’s presence in the MCU was only teased in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in the comics he shares a close relationship with many of the Guardians themselves, like Gamora and Drax. He even joins the team for a period of time, fighting alongside Star-Lord and the rest of the group. This sort of team-up could be implemented into Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, too, if the Guardians encounter him in-game. Perhaps the player, as Star-Lord, will have to ultimately make the decision whether or not to trust the artificial being and accept his aid.
Additionally, Adam Warlock has ties to one of the antagonistic forces set to appear in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The villainous group in question, the Universal Church of Truth, was founded by a being called the Magus, an evil, alternate version of Adam. Both Adam and the Guardians have faced off against the Universal Church of Truth in past stories. With the team coming into conflict with the organization again in Marvel’s Guardians, there is certainly an opportunity for Adam to appear.
Still, the versions of the characters appearing in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy are not the same ones that appear in Marvel comics. The Guardians themselves are different from the MCU characters, having also had details of their identities and backstories changed, so they may not share any kind of history or connection with Adam Warlock in this continuity. Even if this is the case, though, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy could manufacture a new way to introduce Adam Warlock to the group, allowing him to join the action-filled adventure.
